Description Ben Cotton 2021-12-01 16:09:18 UTC
This is a tracking bug for Change: Remove Wire Extensions Support
For more details, see: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/RemoveWirelessExtensions

The legacy wireless extensions interface was replaced by the new mac80211/cfg80211 interface in 2007. The legacy Wireless Extensions support has been long deprecated and only supports long EOL WiFi encryption like WEP so it's time to disable it and remove it.

Kernel change PR done

Comment 2 Jaroslav Škarvada 2021-12-13 23:22:42 UTC
It would be great if you could next time open bugs in advance against the affected components which could prevent maintainers from surprises like e.g. bug 2031312, thanks.

I thought I had, but it seems it was upstream: https://github.com/t6x/reaver-wps-fork-t6x/issues/324

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 36 development cycle.
Changing version to 36.
