I can do this in 2022

Just came by to say I enthusiastically urge you to add xfce. It's perfect for a business desktop.
Adding my voice to the interest in this.
Thanks for the input Thomas and Pat. I will do this in the coming weeks.
Thanks Mukundan! Lack of XFCE - and time - are the only things preventing me from migraining to CS9. Which I need to do before FC34 EOLs. :)
Many thanks, Mukundan! I sure do appreciate it! I can't wait to adopt RHEL9 with xfce! I try to use RHEL wherever I can (as opposed to CentOS or Fedora), so having my favorite DE on RHEL will be perfect.
Using this mock chroot: centos-stream+epel-9-x86_64 grabbed the Xfce4 group SRPM set from fc35 and built it for el9. Screenshot: http://199.249.188.45/stream9/al9beta-xfce4-apr22.png
I have just filed requests for epel9 branch. I will start building the packages in the coming days.
I will start building this soon. Branches are created.
Very good news ! thanks for the effort !

I have finally built most of the core packages. terminal, ristretto and a bunch of plugins remain. Assuming no issues, I expect xfce 4.16 to be available for testing within a week. Sorry about the delay.
I'm interested in this for sure.

alright folks, this is done. mousepad did not build and I need to figure out what's going on. Other than that, Xfce should work as well as it does on Fedora. I tested these builds on RHEL 9 with EPEL enabled and did not notice any issues or odd behavior. the karma for stable is high and time for stable is long - this is intentional. test and provide feedback please.

Is there a comps.xml bug for EPEL9 xfce desktop group?
(In reply to Pat Riehecky from comment #20) > Is there a comps.xml bug for EPEL9 xfce desktop group? there isn't one. I did not have time to update comps earlier. Now, there is PR for comps. https://pagure.io/fedora-comps/pull-request/743 Once merged, it should be possible to install xfce base packages as a group.
the update is on its way to stable. xfce is now in comps.
