Comment 1 Michael Setzer II 2021-12-06 20:55:52 UTC
Noticed the version that Fedora 34 has for UDPCAST is udpcast-20120424-21.fc34.x86_64, but there is a 20200328 version that is out, and compiles fine from source.
Only difference is the /usr/sbin is directory for the Fedora 34 version, but compile source puts files in /usr/local/sbin.

Include UDP-sender and UDP-receiver in my G4L disk imaging project. Use Fedora to build project, but hadn't noticed the Fedora version was so far off the released version??
Been doing the G4L since 2004, so not sure when it got out of sync. Use to manual build it, but then saw that Fedora had it available.

Not sure what real differences exist between 2012 and 2020?
Thanks.

Went to website and looked under changes and it seems this was the only change since 20120428

Changes in 20200328 version

    Use newest busybox and kernel
Return a non-zero exit status if timeout expires at start
Fix compiler warnings and various typoes
    Fixes for Mingw
Fix issues in assembly in fec.c

So, assume on 2,3, and 5 would be updates to the udp-sender/udp-receiver..
But has been out for a year and half.

This is a request to backport the new version
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2026318) to
Fedora 34?

Update: Got the version from updates-testing and it looks great.

Just can an email from the Author and seems he just came out with a new upgrade.

Udpcast 20211207 is released.

The most important changes are:
- --max-bitrate now works with bitrates greater than 2**31
- Use newest busybox (1.33.2) and kernel (5.10.83)
- Lots of compiler warnings and variable type issues have been resolved

I've downloaded the source, and have just built on my Fedora 34 machine.
