Description Rik Theys 2021-12-09 08:57:06 UTC
Description of problem:

Hi,

From what I've read on the oVirt mailing list, oVirt 4.5 will no longer have support for SPICE console access and QXL?

Is that correct?

The rationale seems to be that QXL support is no longer available in RHEL 9 (I've filed a bug there to ask them to reconsider)?

Can we keep the support for spice/qxl in oVirt so it will keep on working for hosts/guests that have the support for these features?

I was unable to find the reason this is being dropped as spice is still faster than VNC, and supports more features such as USB redirection which is not possible with VNC.

Regards,
Rik

Not precisely, the idea was to remove QXL only on the latest cluster-level that should have been based on el9

The 4.7 cluster-level won't require el9 so SPICE would remain until we require el9
