RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Doc Text:
.VNC console now works at most resolutions Previously, when using the Virtual Network Computing (VNC) console under certain display resolutions, a mouse offset problem was present or only a part of the interface was visible. Consequently, using the VNC console was not possible. With this update, the problem has been fixed and the VNC console works correctly at most resolutions, with the exception of ultra high resolutions, such as 3840x2160. Note that a small offset between the recorded and displayed positions of the cursor might still be present. However, this does not significantly impact the usability of the VNC console.

Description Steve Barcomb 2021-12-09 20:32:37 UTC
Using cockpit machines on RHEL 8.5 some UI elements for virtual machines are not clickable.

1) The small window in the overview pane does not respond to click events at all. Keyboard events work fine.

2) When using the VNC console in the webview if the default resolution is changed to 1920x1080, the further the mouse pointer drifts from 0x,0y the click events stop working. The UI elements cannot be clicked to change the resolution back to the default 1024x768, you need to use virt manager to restore functionality.

Simon, can you please try to reproduce this? It sounds like a bug in https://www.npmjs.com/package/@patternfly/react-console and novnc, that should be validated and reported. Thanks!

Comment 3 Xianghua Chen 2022-05-16 06:51:16 UTC
I guess this bug has the same root cause with https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1913548 , I can reproduce it with resolution "1920*1080", expand it then we can click.
Please also check whether the further fix for 1913548 would cover this.

Comment 9 Simon Kobyda 2023-03-16 13:46:31 UTC
Fix merged: https://github.com/cockpit-project/cockpit-machines/pull/900

Comment 15 Xianghua Chen 2023-04-24 06:55:35 UTC
Verified with packages:
cockpit-machines-290-1.el8.noarch
cockpit-290-1.el8.x86_64
libvirt-daemon-8.0.0-19.module+el8.8.0+18453+e0bf0d1d.x86_64
libvirt-dbus-1.3.0-2.module+el8.8.0+16781+9f4724c2.x86_64

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set resolution to 1920x1080
2. Open firefox, click "Create VM", Download an OS and choose like Fedora 36 to install.
3. During the installation, click the content per the installation guide in Console tab, click works fine
4. Expand the Console into a separate page, click works fine

So verified.

Hi Parth, I think we can remove this known issue from RHEL8.9&RHEL9.3 release note now since they are fixed now. Thank you.

Comment 20 Parth Shah 2023-10-30 05:46:09 UTC
Hello @xchen,

I have moved to a different team. Daniel from Virt docs should be able to help out.

Hi Dan,
Could you please help out with this BZ?

Thanks!
