Please branch and build proftpd in epel9.
I am intending to maintain proftpd 1.3.8 in EPEL-9 but it's only at Release Candidate 2 stage at the moment. There is no planned release date for the final version that I know of - could be weeks, could be many months. I am using 1.3.8rc2 myself and would prefer to have that in EPEL-9 than 1.3.7c - I really try to avoid version updates in EPEL (i.e. if I built 1.3.7c for EPEL-9 it's unlikely I would ever update it to 1.3.8). Thoughts?
I think shipping the RC would be fine for EPEL 9 as it currently stands. It's not a beta, and we're six months away from RHEL 9 GA. Now would be a good time to make sure everything works for RHEL 9 and ensure that's done in time for the GA.
