Please branch and build python-utils for EPEL 9, as it's needed for python-progressbar2.
I'm not interested in maintaining a stable API of python-utils for a decade. I can add you as the epel mainatiner if you are interested.
Please add @epel-packagers-sig as a co-maintainer for epel branches then, so that I can take care of it through that group.

Side note: I plan to convert the package to pyproject-rpm-macros and do a minor cleanup. If you want, this could be imported to epel9.
