+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #2039491 +++

Description of problem:

oc uses the `git://` protocol to clone source code from GitHub in its unit tests for `oc new-app`. GitHub will be removing support for this protocol on March 15, 2022.

How reproducible: Always on January 11, 2022.
