Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.
Description of problem:
generic.ins is missing in the root of boot.iso:
[root@rtt1 iso]# find
.
./images
./images/boot.cat
./images/cdboot.img
./images/cdboot.prm
./images/generic.prm
./images/genericdvd.prm
./images/initrd.addrsize
./images/initrd.img
./images/install.img
./images/kernel.img
./images/redhat.exec
./.discinfo
[root@rtt1 iso]#
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEL-9.0.0-20220119.0
lorax-34.9.10-1.el9
lorax-templates-rhel-9.0-31.el9
Actual results:
generic.ins is missing on boot.iso
Expected results:
generic.ins included on boot.iso for s390x
Additional info:
Perhaps the following patch is missing in lorax-templates-rhel:
https://github.com/weldr/lorax/commit/0dbfe28745138a3443fc40d4f273cb36cac7ce44
Sorry about that, it was accidentally dropped when I changed to xorrisofs in bug #2017134
I've double checked the commit and that looks like the only thing that is missing.
The path to generic.ins is now specified as an argument for xorrisofs:
runcmd xorrisofs ${isoargs} -o ${outroot}/images/boot.iso \
-b ${BOOTDIR}/cdboot.img -c ${BOOTDIR}/boot.cat \
-boot-load-size 4 -no-emul-boot \
-R -J -V '${isolabel}' -graft-points \
.discinfo=${outroot}/.discinfo \
generic.ins=${outroot}/generic.ins \
${BOOTDIR}=${outroot}/${BOOTDIR} \
${filegraft}
lorax-templates-rhel-9.0-32.el9 was checked. Marking as "Verified:Tested" and another check of generic.ins really included on boot.iso will be done as part of verification of this bug.
------- Comment From Peter.Oberparleiter.com 2022-03-15 06:38 EDT-------
Bugfix successfully verified: boot of RHEL-9.0.0-20220221.2-BaseOS-s390x-boot.iso in DPM LPAR worked as expected.
