Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Pavel Cahyna 2022-01-25 18:27:00 UTC
bacula-console-bat and bacula-traymonitor are GUI tools that are not likely to be used in production deployments: in RHEL 8 we have not had them either (the subpackages ended up in Buildroot). I looked for bugs reported to bugzilla and nobody has reported that they were missing the tools. I propose to remove them from RHEL 9 as well in order to be in line with RHEL 8 and not increase maintenance cost (e.g. bz2044645).

I checked that nothing depends on the packages (I don't even see how they got to AppStream, they are not referenced from comps nor from pungi's additional_and_filter_packages.conf).

The packages get to the compose according to https://gitlab.com/redhat/centos-stream/release-engineering/pungi-centos/-/blob/centos-9-stream/prepopulate.json
which was prepopulated with Beta content. They ultimately got to beta from https://pagure.io/pungi-fedora/c/06947e4255b7a21e078e104c16148c8f6413833a. At that time, the packages were in workload: https://github.com/minimization/content-resolver-input/commit/11d5eeedea4288a38557c95bf0ee745dbb2ed6b0#diff-68ba7ddb08714517bc6bf1e8c8a0ce77200074a30ecb209ee759f609ff594eb2

Comment 3 Pavel Cahyna 2022-02-03 16:09:09 UTC
The merge request got merged (thanks Josh) and the packages are not in latest nightly Appstream composes anymore. @efedin can you please verify?
