There is currently a known issue. When you use the *Import from Git* form to import a private git repository, the correct import type and a builder image are not identified. This issue happens because the secret to fetch the private repository details is not decoded. (link:https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2053501[BZ#2053501])

Hello,

since 4.9 this happens for us too, also for public repos without authentication.

Creating BuildConfigs via "oc new-app https://git-url --allow-missing-images --source-secret=<secret> is working fine.

Comment 4 Mohammed Saud 2022-03-04 19:18:23 UTC
Hi David,

This bug is about import detection not working for private repositories,
but you might be facing a different issue if detection for public repositories is affected.

Can you please elaborate on the issue you face, or file a new bug for it?
