Description Davide Cavalca 2022-03-01 23:15:16 UTC
Please branch and build xorg-x11-font-utils in epel9.

If you do not wish to maintain xorg-x11-font-utils in epel9,
or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner,
the EPEL Packagers SIG would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package;
please add the epel-packagers-sig group through
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/xorg-x11-font-utils/addgroup
and grant it commit access, or collaborator access on epel* branches.

Will you be able to branch and build xorg-x11-font-utils in epel9?
The EPEL Packagers SIG would be happy to be a co-maintainer
if you do not wish to build it on epel9.

Comment 2 Niels De Graef 2022-04-07 11:44:22 UTC
xorg-x11-font-utils has been deaggregated into several packages (see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/XorgUtilityDeaggregation for the reasoning) in RHEL 9.

Of those packagges, only mkfontscale is now available as individual package, all other subpackages (bdf2pcf, fonttosfnt and font-utils itself) are no longer available.

So the question is, of all these packages, which one do you require? :)

I should have an answer for you in a couple of weeks -- I know we needed this for Chromium, but the engineer that was driving that work is currently on vacation and was going to double check on the specifics when they get back. I'll leave the needinfo so I don't forget to followup. Thanks!

Comment 4 Orion Poplawski 2022-07-06 03:11:46 UTC
What I'm dealing with is that no package seems to own /usr/share/X11/fonts - see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2104350

Comment 5 Niels De Graef 2022-11-16 12:26:39 UTC
Thanks, I moved that BZ to the right component so it should get the necessary attention.

Since xorg-x11-font-utils is then not needed anymore (and it doesn't exist anymore anyway), I'm going to close this as a duplicate of 2104350 then
