When cloning a large number, more than 100, VMs on Red Hat Ceph Storage or Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation Storage in parallel, you might encounter a state in which the cloning stops and will not progress. The result is that the DataVolume might get stuck in SnapshotForSmartCloneInProgress. TODO You may need to delete the ceph pool to be able to create new clones. Workaround:Create VMs in smaller bulks.

If you clone more than 100 VMs on Red Hat Ceph Storage or Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation Storage at the same time, then the cloning process might stall and fail.

As a workaround, when using Red Hat Ceph Storage or Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation Storage, set the default clone strategy attribute to cloneStrategy: copy in the storage profile manifest to perform a host-assisted copy. (BZ#1989527)
