Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.
1. Proposed title of this feature request
Need RPM with Version Number template in the RedHat Satellite, should generate the report to compare installed and latest available package version on the hosts.
2. What is the nature and description of the request?
Currently, we created the custom report using the ERB template to generate reports to compare installed and latest available package versions on the host using macro "host_latest_applicable_rpm_version". But the report is not showing the correct package in the latest available package version column
3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
We can generate and verify the report for all hosts registered to the satellite server and identify what is the latest available package version is going to apply to hosts.
As per the Customer, their production setup has been not updated for 6 to 7 months. Security patching is mandatory to fix the vulnerabilities
an audit report has to be generated and submitted for quarterly patching, for this data filtering and package information must be as per organization requirements and updated
4. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
As of now, we generated a report using a custom template and it gave the installed package version and available package version but the latest available package version is showing lower version than yum update package.
5. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
No
6. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. satellite 7.0)?
No
7. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
No
8. List any affected packages or components.
