Description of problem: gnome-shell crashed soon after trying to open a PDF with Nautilus. And once while just navigating around in gnucash. Data loss due to it taking out applications with unsaved data. Both crashes with rc-1, beta didn't crash in ~two weeks. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-shell-42~rc-2.fc36.x86_64 mutter-42~rc-4.fc36.x86_64 clutter-1.26.4-8.fc36.x86_64 How reproducible: transient, not reproducible on command 2x Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Initially the mouse arrow just vanishes and nothing is responsive, then black screen. Expected results: Should not crash. Additional info: Looks like it's clutter related? Possible dupes, bug 2063113, bug 2061998. The beta release requirement is "No part of any release-blocking desktop's panel (or equivalent) configuration may crash on startup or be entirely non-functional." which it's not *entirely* non-functional, but it's a pretty bad regression compared to beta. In which case the catcha all beta release requirement "Bug hinders execution of required Beta test plans or dramatically reduces test coverage" because at this point I'm inching toward downgrading...

Moving to mutter as the big fix seems to be there. The gnome-shell MR would help with one specific case but the mutter MR would prevent crashing in any case, AIUI.

Checked with mutter-42~rc-5.fc36.x86_64.rpm ,didn't see the crash any more,though the system hang once with flood of "dconf_changeset_set: assertion 'dconf_is_path (path, NULL)' failed ' printed to journal "
