Github openshift openshift-docs pull 43558 0 None open BZ2065025: AWS Instance - fix references to current type (M6i) 2022-04-08 20:07:36 UTC

Description Simon Reber 2022-03-17 06:57:28 UTC
Document URL: https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.10/installing/installing_aws/installing-aws-user-infra.html#installation-supported-aws-machine-types_installing-aws-user-infra and https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.10/release_notes/ocp-4-10-release-notes.html#ocp-4-10-AWS-default-components

Section Number and Name: "Supported AWS machine types" and "New default component types for AWS installations"

Describe the issue: Based on https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2022560 it seems that M6I instances are supported in OpenShift Container Platform 4 (starting version 4.8) But for some reason only `m6i.xlarge` has been added to https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.10/installing/installing_aws/installing-aws-user-infra.html#installation-supported-aws-machine-types_installing-aws-user-infra via https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2022560. But according to the bug all available M6I instance types are supported.

 - Question is in what version of OpenShift Container Platform 4 this does
apply and if there are any further restrictions

Suggestions for improvement: Clarify the support for M6I instance type in more detail (IPI and UPI) to help understand which M6I instances are supported and what version of OpenShift Container Platform 4.8 is required.

Additional information: Currently this is very confusing as code changes imply that every M6I Instance available is supported and docs are stating it differently depending whether customer is using IPI or UPI.
