Description Miro Hrončok 2022-04-05 15:21:26 UTC
Description of problem:
When I start meshlab on Fedora 36, it displays an error window with:

=================================================
MeshLab was not able to start.
Please check your Graphics drivers.

Error: GLEW initialization failed: Unknown error
=================================================

And does not start.
I've tested on Fedora 36 Beta as well as on an updated Fedora 36 system.
This is on GNOME. Both in GNOME Boxes on my Fedora 35 as well as on real hardware with Intel graphics.

Version-Release number of selected component: 2021.07-4.fc36

How reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot to live Fedora 36 Beta or install it.
2. Start meshlab from the menu or from the command line

Actual results:
Error: GLEW initialization failed: Unknown error
App won't start.

Expected results:
Meshlab starts.

Additional info: Haven't checked with an updated kernel yet.

Comment 1 Miro Hrončok 2022-04-05 15:35:02 UTC
Reassigning to glew to get the maintainers cc'ed. Will reassign back.

Comment 2 Miro Hrončok 2022-04-05 15:40:22 UTC
Apparently, when restarted to the updated kernel, this no longer happens.

Sorry for the noise.

Comment 3 Miro Hrončok 2022-04-05 16:36:52 UTC
Heh, so this returned back and I realized it always happens when I launch "meshlab" from console, since this is already worked around in the app launcher. https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/meshlab/blob/rawhide/f/README.Fedora
