Description of problem:

WHY: It had been regressed on RHEL9 (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2077586), becomes costly to maintain for Nova team. Also data corruption risks in general (NFS is never been reliable).

HOW: Provide 18->19 upgrade path from local NFS shares to Ceph (for Storage DFG to take over)

Also if we want NFS, it should be backed with CephFS perhaps?

The migration path from NFS to Ceph could be with shelve/unshelve to another host (although that's far from ideal).

Do you mind if I close this as NOTABUG? I don't want to silence the discussion, I just want our BZs to track... well, bugs :)

I've created and pre-filled [1] to use as a written base for future discussion. As new information becomes available, we can revisit all of the arguments in that doc, and see if we want to move forward with deprecation.

We chatted on IRC with Bogdan, the Google Docs solution is a bit too hidden, so we'd like to keep this open, just not targeted at any release.

Starting with the Antelope upstream release, DFG:Compute is tracking its feature backlog in Jira. This feature request has been migrated to DFG:Compute’s new Jira backlog. The Jira tracker for this feature request can be found below. At the time of this writing, only Red Hat associates have access to the Jira tracker, but we are actively working on changing that as more and more of the OSP organization uses Jira for more things.
