RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Comment 1 Brent Baude 2022-05-18 18:13:12 UTC
fwiw, as a result, CNI network is the default ...

Comment 2 Jindrich Novy 2022-05-18 18:16:11 UTC
Podman does require netavark in RHEL9.1: http://pkgs.devel.redhat.com/cgit/rpms/podman/commit/?h=rhel-9-main&id=35e4bc8a05aa17dcc5aa6348ed7f100d82489496

Or is this bug supposed to address this in RHEL9.0 zstream update?

Comment 3 Brent Baude 2022-05-18 18:51:24 UTC
Podman should require netavark in 9.0.

Comment 4 Daniel Walsh 2022-05-18 19:13:10 UTC
Yes make the change ASAP

Comment 5 Preethi Thomas 2022-05-18 20:51:34 UTC
@jnovy This should be default in 9.0

Comment 6 Tom Sweeney 2022-05-18 21:33:09 UTC
OK, I'm a bit confused. In this BZ, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2086757, the issue there was Netavark was being installed by default on both RHEL 8.7 and 9.0. Or did we switch it up and did netavark default on 8.7 and cni on 9.0.

Comment 7 Daniel Walsh 2022-05-18 22:07:02 UTC
Netavark should be default installed on RHEL9, not RHEL8.

Comment 8 Derrick Ornelas 2022-05-18 22:46:42 UTC
I'll go ahead and ack this so we can get it into 9.0 z-stream ASAP

Comment 11 Preethi Thomas 2022-05-19 15:52:32 UTC
@tsweeney

Could you work with @jnovy to finalize a plan for fixing this issue.

Comment 14 Joy Pu 2022-05-26 10:07:29 UTC
Checked with podman-4.1.0-4.el9.x86_64.rpm, and it is already require netavark. So move this to verified:
[root@kvm-06-guest17 ~]# yum deplist podman-4.1.0-4.el9.x86_64.rpm |grep net
