Please branch and build python-kitchen in epel9. If you do not wish to maintain python-kitchen in epel9, or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner, the EPEL Packagers SIG would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package on epel; Please add the epel-packagers-sig group through https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-kitchen/addgroup I also wouldn't mind being a co-maintainer of the package. (FES: tdawson) Please add me through https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-kitchen/adduser

We should NOT branch this for epel9. We should retire the package entirely... what are you seeing that still needs it? python-kitchen was (I am pretty sure) a python2 only collection of things... python-fedora should drop the dep on it.
The only place I see it needed is for python-fedora. I agree, let's have python-fedora drop the dependency on it. If that happens, I'll gladly close this.
Here is a pull request to drop the python-kitchen dependency in python-fedora https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-fedora/pull-request/8
Looking at the code changes that would have to happen in python-fedora, I think it would be easier to have python-kitchen in epel9 than totally re-write python-fedora. Do you mind building python-kitchen in epel9?
Sorry for dragging my feet here... but I have a feeling that both python-kitchen and python-fedora aren't really needed anymore. kitchen was python3 stuff for python2. python-fedora was mostly for interacting with fas2 (which is very close to gone). But I am not sure... I need to get the attention of some of our application developers and confirm that and see if we can retire them. ;(
I would love to not need python-fedora for fedpkg. I looked into it and it is only needed for testing, not for any of the code. The bug for getting fedpkg into epel9 has already commented that due to python-mock not going into epel9, that the fedpkg tests already need to be reworked. Maybe we can get both python-mock, and python-fedora out of the fedpkg tests. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2061765
Any progress or thoughts on this? python-kitchen is currently the only route to getting fedpkg into epel9.
Yeah, I guess lets just branch for epel9 for now and if we can get rid of it we can nuke it from there too. I'll add epel-packagers-sig.
