Please, branch and build package blender for EPEL9.
Any co-maintainer willing to take on this report?
This comment should not be interpreted as signing up to do this—at the moment, or maybe at all. However, here is a quick check of roughly which dependencies are missing, from “fedpkg --release epel9 mockbuild” on the rawhide branch: > No matching package to install: 'cmake(Alembic)' > No matching package to install: 'cmake(OpenImageDenoise)' > No matching package to install: 'cmake(ceres)' > No matching package to install: 'cmake(embree)' > No matching package to install: 'ffmpeg-free-devel' > No matching package to install: 'libavdevice-free-devel' > No matching package to install: 'libavformat-free-devel' > No matching package to install: 'libspnav-devel' > No matching package to install: 'openCOLLADA-devel >= svn825' > No matching package to install: 'openshadinglanguage-common-headers' > No matching package to install: 'opensubdiv-devel' > No matching package to install: 'openvdb-devel' > No matching package to install: 'openxr-libs' > No matching package to install: 'pkgconfig(OpenColorIO) > 1' > No matching package to install: 'pkgconfig(OpenImageIO)' > No matching package to install: 'pkgconfig(blosc)' > No matching package to install: 'pkgconfig(freealut)' > No matching package to install: 'pkgconfig(freeglut)' > No matching package to install: 'pkgconfig(hidapi-hidraw)' > No matching package to install: 'pkgconfig(ode)' > No matching package to install: 'pkgconfig(openxr)' > No matching package to install: 'pkgconfig(oslcomp)' > No matching package to install: 'pkgconfig(pugixml)' > No matching package to install: 'potrace-devel' > No matching package to install: 'usd-devel' Obviously, some of these can be disabled if necessary, and some can’t.
I think blender for epel9 should stick to tls version 2.93 (luxrender isn't yet compatible with blender 3.x)...
Upvote for blender for EPEL9! That is all. Thanks.
The starting point to port to EPEL9 will be on https://developer.blender.org/diffusion/B/browse/master/build_files/cmake/config/blender_lite.cmake i.e. minimal build dependencies with version 3.3 LTS as reference so other optional dependencies will get incremented.
