Description Tommy He 2022-06-16 02:48:40 UTC
Created attachment 1890514 [details]
kernel, aplay and wireplumber info with alsa-lib-1.2.7

Description of problem:

After upgrading to alsa-lib 1.2.7, HDMI Audio from AMD A10-5800K "Trinity" series APU stopped working. HDMI Audio is no longer presented as a Output Device in GNOME Setting - Audio.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

alsa-lib-1.2.7-1.fc36
alsa-ucm-1.2.7-1.fc36
alsa-utils-1.2.7-1.fc36

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot F36 GA Live image or F36 Workstation Live Respin 20220601 image that contains alsa-lib-1.2.6 on AMD A10-5800K system.
2. Upgrade from alsa-lib-1.2.6 to alsa-lib-1.2.7, or using a Live image contains alsa-lib-1.2.7 already, such as kernel-test-5.18.3.iso on AMD A10-5800K
3. Check GNOME Setting - Audio - Output Device

Actual results:

There's no option for Radeon HDMI Audio in Output Device.
aplay -l shows error for HDMI device: aplay: device_list:304: control digital audio info (0): Input/output error

Expected results:

Radeon HDMI Audio should be presented as before in Output Device.
aplay -l can show HDMI device properly.

Additional info:

Downgrading to alsa-lib to 1.2.6 restore the HDMI audio device on A10-5800K system. Kernel, pipewire, wireplumber versions don't matter.
