Description Peter Larsen 2022-06-17 16:33:05 UTC
Description of problem:
When using the admin console, under "Cluster Settings" and choosing Upstream Configuration, the "window" that appears has a dead link to documentation for how to create a local (disconnected) update server.

The link in the window is
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/openshift_container_platform/4.10/html/updating_clusters/installing-update-service

Assume the right link should be something like:
https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.10/updating/updating-restricted-network-cluster.html#update-restricted-network-cluster-update-service

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

4.10.*

Thank you, Peter, for wonderfully documenting the bug!

Comment 4 Robb Hamilton 2022-07-26 12:03:41 UTC
Can this fix please be verified? It has been sitting for quite some time.

Seems the bug is still present.

Comment 6 xiangyli 2022-07-27 07:03:25 UTC
PS: The link `Learn more about OpenShift local update services.` still directs to a 404 oage.

I retried in a 4.10 cluster. The link still links to a 404 page. The cluster is https://mastern-jenkins-csb-openshift-qe.apps.ocp-c1.prod.psi.redhat.com/job/ocp-common/job/Flexy-install/124768/console

Comment 8 Robb Hamilton 2022-07-27 12:38:49 UTC
Hi, xinagyli. Since 4.11 and 4.12 haven't been released, the docs at https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/openshift_container_platform/4.11 and https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/openshift_container_platform/4.12 haven't been published. As a result, a 404 is expected. You can verify the link will be correct though by manually changing 4.12 or 4.11 to 4.10 in https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/openshift_container_platform/4.12/html/updating_clusters/update-using-custom-machine-config-pools and should get functioning link.

4.10 doesn't yet have the fix because it is blocked since the fix must first merge to 4.12 and 4.11.

In other words, a 404 is expected in all versions at this point.

Comment 9 xiangyli 2022-07-28 04:54:19 UTC
Screenshot of the functioning link

Thank you Robb. After manually correcting the link
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/openshift_container_platform/4.12/html/updating_clusters/update-using-custom-machine-config-pools
it returns a functional link.

Then if this is the expected behavior, I think this bug can be verified.

Comment 10 xiangyli 2022-07-28 05:17:04 UTC
PS: Bug is verified on 4.10.

Comment 11 xiangyli 2022-07-28 05:50:32 UTC
(In reply to xiangyli from comment #10)
> PS: Bug is verified on 4.10.

Sorry I was mistaken. The bug should be verified on 4.12. I mistakenly understood Robb that this bug is not merged.

Details supplement:

This bug has been verified on 4.12.0-0.nightly-2022-07-28-021131

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to `/settings/cluster`
2. Click `Default update server`, and a window will pop out
3. Click `Learn more about OpenShift local update services.` and get link https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/openshift_container_platform/4.11/html/updating_clusters/updating-restricted-network-cluster#update-service-overview_updating-restricted-network-cluster
4. Modify the `/4.11/html` to `/4.10/html`, and the page is no longer 404.
