Description Felix Friedlander 2022-06-28 03:00:08 UTC
Description of problem:
MediaWiki 1.37.2 pulls in Parsoid 0.14.0, which is broken with PHP 8.1. Parsoid 0.14.1 fixes this (relevant upstream issue: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T307982).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mediawiki 1.37.2, wikimedia/parsoid 0.14.0

How reproducible:
Install mediawiki, set up a wiki with VisualEditor enabled, attempt to edit a page.
An unhelpful generic error message will appear.

Additional info:
This should be fixed by MediaWiki 1.37.3 if/when that's released; for a more immediate fix, simply patching composer.json / composer.lock files to specify a newer parsoid version should work fine (currently running fine with 0.14.1 swapped in).

Comment 1 Felix Friedlander 2022-06-28 11:47:09 UTC
According to someone in a mediawiki IRC channel, 1.37.3 should hopefully be out this week, so waiting for that and then upgrading is probably the go.
