Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Comment 1 Victor Toso 2022-07-11 17:17:04 UTC
RHEL 8.6 has osinfo-db released in 16 dec 2021, while the database entry for rhel 8.6 was added in 17 may 2022

    https://gitlab.com/libosinfo/osinfo-db/-/commit/a9183cae2385581e9cb6f0bb06e40d4d0cf1ce03

I think it is reasonable to the user to be able to easily create a VM instance of the running host, so I'll be backporting the above patch.

I've also noticed that previous maintainer added the prerelease metadata to the osinfo-db to avoid this kind of bug. I'll be doing that in the future too.

Cheers,

Comment 2 Victor Toso 2022-07-12 05:21:38 UTC
Note, I'll be moving this bug to 8.7 with the goal that on 8.7 release we have at least the prerelease metadata of RHEL 8.7 and the information currently lacking of RHEL 8.6.

I don't think it is worth to z-stream 8.6 with this bug. Feel free to raise your concern if you disagree.

acking ...

Comment 7 Victor Toso 2022-07-29 12:34:01 UTC
rhel8.6 name should be available with latest rebase, with build osinfo-db-20220727-1.el8
I'll be submitting the rhel8.7 prerelease metadadata to osinfo-db upstream and backporting it for this bug next week.

Moving ITM and DTM one week to avoid complain from bugbot.
Renaming the original issue to reflect adding metadata for 8.7
