Description of problem: Cu wants to upgrade his environment to RHV 4.4.11 / 4.5.0. Migration of VMs is happening for some of the hosts between source and destination but for some hosts it failed. But because of migration issue of VM ,he is facing difficulty in upgradation. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): ovirt-engine-4.5.0.7-0.9.el8ev.noarch vdsm-4.50.0.13-1.el8ev.x86_64 qemu-kvm-6.2.0-11.module+el8.6.0+14707+5aa4b42d.x86_64 libvirt-8.0.0-5.module+el8.6.0+14480+c0a3aa0f.x86_64 How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. upgrade the RHV manager to 4.5 from 4.4 -successful 2. try to upgrade the hosts 3. vm migration getting failed for some of the hosts ,so upgrade of hosts not possible. If we try to change the console type from VNC to SPICE and see if this allows the VM to migrate however it might fail if the VM isn't rebooted first to pick up the console change 4. have file this bug so that we should allow VMs with VNC consoles to migrate to newer hosts from older hosts. Actual results: failed to migrate VM to other running hosts when upgrading a hosts. Expected results: Hosts should get upgraded and VM should be migrated to other hosts Additional info: Initially we thought that vm are migrating only for the source and destination having same libvirt versions but later Cu confirmed us that migration is happening for hosts with different libvirt versions too
> libvirt.libvirtError: unsupported configuration: VNC password is 12 characters long, only 8 permitted This problem happens when migrating to newer hosts, due to changes in libvirt. It has been addressed in Vdsm 4.50.1.2. Once the destination hosts exhibiting the problem are upgraded to RHV 4.4 SP1 Batch #1, VM will be able to migrate to them again. See also BZ 2090156.
