journalctl output

1. Please describe the problem:

Since the introduction of the Kernel 5.18.xx the input of the graphics tablet gets only accepted once in proximity and after leaving the sensors proximity-detection-field does not react anymore to it only after re-plugging it in and the story starts over again.

worked flawlessly with the 5.17.xx kernels and lower.

2. What is the Version-Release number of the kernel:

5.18.10 but any 5.18.xx so

3. Did it work previously in Fedora? If so, what kernel version did the issue
*first* appear? Old kernels are available for download at
   https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=8 :

5.18.5 kernel, the first I installed on my computer

4. Can you reproduce this issue? If so, please provide the steps to reproduce
   the issue below:

I am on Fedora 36 kde plasma with wayland (rx480, r2600, 16gigs of ram)
I have a non wacom-tablet (huion kamvas 20 pro)
Moving the tabletpen into the tabletsensors proximity and it gets detected as usual but removing it out of its proximity and back into it again it does not get recognised anymore.

5. Does this problem occur with the latest Rawhide kernel? To install the
Rawhide kernel, run ``sudo dnf install fedora-repos-rawhide`` followed by
   ``sudo dnf update --enablerepo=rawhide kernel``:

it got worse with the rawhide kernel, didnt get an input to the screen at all

6. Are you running any modules that not shipped with directly Fedora's kernel?:

first with a clean kernel then tried to get an input via digimend
Same behaviour with the fsync kernel from the coprs

7. Please attach the kernel logs. You can get the complete kernel log
   for a boot with ``journalctl --no-hostname -k > dmesg.txt``. If the
issue occurred on a previous boot, use the journalctl ``-b`` flag.

some notes

It also seems that i'm not alone with this problem as this post suggests https://ask.fedoraproject.org/t/graphictablet-pen-not-working-kernel-5-18-xx-bug/24084

Comment 1 Izhar Firdaus 2022-08-07 08:41:54 UTC
I can confirm that this is also happening on my computer. Huion H320M and H430P.

The tablet stop working right after lifting up the pen for the first time. Happens on both Xorg and Xwayland.

Comment 2 Izhar Firdaus 2022-08-07 08:54:37 UTC
additional note:

tablet seems to stop working after this message appears in journalctl:

Additionally, monitoring the input through `cat /dev/input/event6`, I see that input is registered there even when the UI does not show any input.

Comment 3 José 2022-08-16 13:31:06 UTC
This is also happening to me. I use a Huion HS611. This is happening both in Xorg and Wayland.

Comment 4 Izhar Firdaus 2022-09-08 12:39:00 UTC
i'm wondering, could this be libinput bug instead of kernel? considering `cat /dev/input/event6` does shows the tablet providing some input data.

Comment 5 José 2022-09-12 14:05:35 UTC
An update: My tablet is now working correctly :)

It is actually better now because the "tilt" function of the pen is now working on linux, thanks for fixing the issue!

I'm on: Fedora 36 WK, Gnome 42.4, Wayland, Kernel: 5.19.8-200.fc36.x86_64

Comment 6 zerasura 2022-09-27 10:44:28 UTC
I can confirm

since 5.19.9 and now with 5.19.10 its working again , still no tilt recognition but it isnt like I use it that much more of a "Nice to have"

Fedora Nobara, Wayland, KDE plasma 5.25

Comment 7 Ben Cotton 2023-04-25 17:36:48 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 36 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 36 on 2023-05-16.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '36'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 36 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

Comment 8 Ludek Smid 2023-05-25 17:09:11 UTC
Fedora Linux 36 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2023-05-16.

Fedora Linux 36 is no longer maintained, which means that it
will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora Linux
please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Note that the version
field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see
the version field.

If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against an
active release.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
