Please consider branching and building GeoIP for epel9. If GeoIP was in epel9 I could build perl-Geo-IP and awstat could provide geoip module, see bellow. It looks like rawhide version builds in epel9 just fine - https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=90255583 Thanks. +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #2109779 +++ There is no perl-Geo-IP for epel9 https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/perl-Geo-IP Please branch and build perl-Geo-IP in epel9, thank you. --- Additional comment from Ming on 2022-07-29 11:24:30 CEST --- Will you be able to branch and build perl-Geo-IP in epel9? --- Additional comment from Petr Lautrbach on 2022-07-29 14:55:29 CEST --- I made a mistake when I built awstats and didn't check requirements. perl-Geo-IP is not available and requires GeoIP which is not available as well. I would drop the perl-Geo-IP requirement from awstats so that awastats should work, only geoip module would not be available. --- Additional comment from Ming on 2022-07-29 19:45:47 CEST --- Thanks Petr, I tested awstats-7.8-7.1.el9.noarch.rpm works fine, thank you. In fact we also needs perl-Geo-IP & GeoIP for awstats usage too, I found GeoIP-1.6.12-7.el8.x86_64.rpm is available in EPEL8, would you please branch perl-Geo-IP & GeoIP for epel9 too?
This is unlikely to happen. See discussions in these tickets: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2091875 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2066787 Is it not possible to use something based on libmaxminddb, which is still supported upstream?
Oh, thanks for suggestion and understood GeoIP is EOL As awstats doesn't support libmaxminddb, but only GeoIP or GeoIP2, so I just submitted another perl-GeoIP2 request here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2112563
