Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Evgeni Golov 2022-08-08 13:17:45 UTC
Created attachment 1904286 [details]
screenshot of the warning

Description of problem:
When the user opens up https://satellite.example.com/hosts/register, the first thing they see is a big orange warning saying "Invalid field: Activation Keys" (see attached screenshot).

I think this is wrong for multiple reasons:
1. the user didn't enter any data yet, so there actually is nothing to validate
2. the AK field is on the "advanced" tab, which the user didn't even open yet
3. it magically disappears once the user selects a hostgroup (which has an AK defined)

No3 is actually funny, because you can create a HG with an invalid AK (just enter some garbage in the AK field) and this will clear the warning. But if you go to "advanced" you see that there is still no AK set as the registration dialog does validation and realizes this AK doesn't exist (the user can still click on generate, and the link created will not contain an AK).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
6.11
6.12

How reproducible:
100

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to https://satellite.example.com/hosts/register

Actual results:
See warning

Expected results:
Only see user-actionable things

Indeed, somehow my search fu failed me on this one.

Comment 3 Brad Buckingham 2024-02-11 20:37:14 UTC
Upon review of our valid but aging backlog the Satellite Team has concluded that this Bugzilla does not meet the criteria for a resolution in the near term, and are planning to close in a month. This message may be a repeat of a previous update and the bug is again being considered to be closed. If you have any concerns about this, please contact your Red Hat Account team. Thank you.

Comment 4 Marek Hulan 2024-02-12 08:05:03 UTC
Isn't this resolved by the recent changes? I thought we're pre-selecting the first AK.

Comment 5 Leos Stejskal 2024-02-12 08:43:25 UTC
Yes,
this has been fixed in 6.15.

Comment 6 amolpati 2024-02-16 13:22:05 UTC
Verified.

Tested on: Satellite 6.15

Steps followed:

1) Navigate Hosts -> Register Host
2) In Activation Keys filed "Invalid field: Activation Keys" warning is removed

Additional info:

After refresh the page Activation keys does not show any warning message.

Comment 7 Brad Buckingham 2024-05-29 18:38:02 UTC
Closing bugzilla as it was VERIFIED on Satellite 6.15.
