Description Ian McInerney 2022-08-14 23:42:48 UTC
It appears that the code licensed under the Public Domain license was removed in 2016, so the RPM shouldn't need to have that license technically. Upstream still includes it in the copyright file though, so ideally they remove it and then we can remove it from the license field of the RPM as well.

I have asked upstream to do that in https://github.com/mhogomchungu/zuluCrypt/issues/190.

Comment 1 Ian McInerney 2022-09-19 22:36:02 UTC
Upstream has removed it from the license file, so the next release can be updated to remove public domain from the license field. There is a subsequent update to the copyright file in https://github.com/mhogomchungu/zuluCrypt/pull/194 to further bring it inline with the codebase.

Comment 2 Ben Cotton 2023-02-07 14:53:31 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 38 development cycle.
Changing version to 38.

Comment 3 Aoife Moloney 2024-05-07 15:47:26 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 38 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 38 on 2024-05-21.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '38'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 38 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

You should announce the license change on devel mailing list to follow up with official policy.

Comment 10 Ian McInerney 2024-09-18 09:54:46 UTC
The license change isn't complete, it is still waiting on https://gitlab.com/fedora/legal/fedora-license-data/-/issues/561 to be decided on.
