RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Michael J Gruber 2022-08-25 16:26:01 UTC
Description of problem:
jbig2dec is a development library. RHEL ships the lib only. This prevents building against the lib. In particular, it prevents building Fedora packages such as mupdf for EPEL.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
any

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf list jbig2dec-devel

Actual results:
not found

Expected results:
found

Additional info:
zathura (document viewer) was built for EPEL 9 recently but is disfuctional due to lack of plugins, such as zathura-pdf-mupdf. This requires mupdf in EPEL 9. (The only other one missing seems to be curl-devel.)

Comment 1 Michael J Gruber 2022-08-25 20:16:39 UTC
Once this and curl-devel are in, mupdf and zathura-pdf-mupdf build successfully:

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/mjg/mupdf-zathura-EPEL/

Everything in there are direct rebuilds of current Fedora rawhide packages.

That makes sense to me, let's include the jbig2dec-devel in Code-Ready Builder repo (CRB). Unfortunately, this request came too late for making this available in 9.1.0 update, so we currently aim 9.2.0.

Once we'll proceed with this, the build gets available in the CentOS Stream 9.
You can also take the package https://kojihub.stream.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=11528 meanwhile.
I expect this likely does not help in the EPEL environment though.

Thanks!

Not unless I can specify this as a repo in copr. But my own rebuilds there work, and once -devel is in CRB for CS9 we are good.
(If I understand things right then libcurl-devel is on its way, too.)

Comment 4 Michael J Gruber 2022-12-18 15:29:53 UTC
In understand we just missed 9.1.0 but somehow expected jbig2dec-devel to show up in CS9, which is leading up to 9.2.0. Is there some timeline, or something I could do to help this go forward?
