Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Avijit Roy 2022-09-06 17:13:35 UTC
Description of problem:

While creating the host the new UI shows creator of the host as the 'Host owner' not who actually created

"Created 20 minutes ago by mysuer (updated 20 minutes ago)"

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
6.11

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set the 'Host owner, in Administer >> Settings >> Provisioning. (EX: myuser)
2. Login with some other user (or admin).
3. Create a host.
4. Toggle to New UI.

It will show the below message:

"Created 20 minutes ago by mysuer (updated 20 minutes ago)"

Though the admin user actually created the user. If we verify the Monitor >> Audit it shows the correct creator.

Expected results:

The message should indicate who actually created it or the owner itself. Something like below

"Created 20 minutes ago owned by mysuer (updated 20 minutes ago)"

or

"Created 20 minutes ago for myuser (updated 20 minutes ago)"

Additional info:

If we toggle to legacy UI we don't see that message.

Audit logs show the correct message.

Hi Avijit,
While creating the host, under the `Additional Information` tab you have the `Owned By` dropdown which determines the message you see on the new UI host page. You can also see the same value on the `Hosts` index page table > Owner column.
Looks like it is not a bug. Closing it for now.

Comment 2 Pat Riehecky 2022-10-06 18:16:35 UTC
If the intent is for that text to list the Owner of the system. I believe the template should say "Owned by" rather than "Created by".

Created redmine issue https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/35642 from this bug

Comment 8 Bryan Kearney 2022-11-23 16:03:29 UTC
Moving this bug to POST for triage into Satellite since the upstream issue https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/35642 has been resolved.

Comment 10 Lukáš Hellebrandt 2023-06-20 10:08:29 UTC
Verified with Sat 6.14 snap 3.0.

1) Create users: user_who_creates, user_who_changes, user_who_owns, user_who_looks. Do the following actions with their respective users.
2) user_who_changes: Update Administer -> Settings -> Provisioning -> Host owner to user_who_owns
3) user_who_creates: Create a host
4) user_who_looks: Look at the host's page, see text like "Created 6 minutes ago by User Creator (updated 3 minutes ago)" - it should contain name assigned to user_who_creates. Also in the bottom right, table Audit should show "create	8 minutes ago	user_who_creates".
5) user_who_changes: Got to host page, Edit, Additional information, change owner to admin
6) user_who_looks: repeat 4)
