It's outdated, but nevertheless conflicts with this package. It als has the naming expected for this package according to the naming guidelines: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/Naming/ You can reach out to Javier. I put him in the needinfo. Maybe he's willing to update python-confluent-kafka or make you co-maintainer. Does this package explicitly depend on librdkafka-1.6.1? Looking at the spec file there's no version dependency on librdkafka-devel in BuildRequires. In that case it's best to submit the latest release, unless there are other blocking issues.
I built python-confluent-kafka as a requirement for some OpenStack packages some time ago. It does not seem to be required now, so I'm happy to make Steve a co-maintainer if he's interested in updating the package.
