RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Stanislav Zidek 2022-09-19 17:56:19 UTC
Description of problem:
During encryption, gpg says: "AES256.OCB encryption will be used"
During decryption, gpg says: "AES256.CFB encrypted data"

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnupg2-2.3.3-2.el9_0

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
/CoreOS/gnupg2/Regression/bz2054964-Force-AEAD-encryption

Actual results:
:: [ 13:48:07 ] :: [  BEGIN   ] :: Running 'gpg2 -u nistp256_key -vsc -o the_file.enc --force-aead --batch --pinentry-mode loopback --passphrase passPhrase the_file'
gpg: Note: RFC4880bis features are enabled.
gpg: AES256.OCB encryption will be used
gpg: writing to 'the_file.enc'
gpg: ECDSA/SHA256 signature from: "9F956F33B9821077 nistp256_key"
:: [ 13:48:08 ] :: [   PASS   ] :: Command 'gpg2 -u nistp256_key -vsc -o the_file.enc --force-aead --batch --pinentry-mode loopback --passphrase passPhrase the_file' (Expected 0, got 0)
:: [ 13:48:08 ] :: [   PASS   ] :: File the_file.enc should exist
:: [ 13:48:08 ] :: [   PASS   ] :: File '/var/tmp/rlRun_LOG.feziC4hw' should contain 'OCB encryption will be used'
:: [ 13:48:08 ] :: [  BEGIN   ] :: Running 'gpg2 -v -d --batch --pinentry-mode loopback  --passphrase passPhrase the_file.enc'
gpg: Note: RFC4880bis features are enabled.
gpg: AES256.CFB encrypted data
gpg: encrypted with 1 passphrase
gpg: original file name='the_file'
sample text to encrypt
gpg: Signature made Mon 19 Sep 2022 01:48:08 PM EDT
gpg:                using ECDSA key 07934DACE41687C9B6A8D1219F956F33B9821077
gpg: using pgp trust model
gpg: Good signature from "nistp256_key" [ultimate]
gpg: binary signature, digest algorithm SHA256, key algorithm nistp256
:: [ 13:48:08 ] :: [   PASS   ] :: Command 'gpg2 -v -d --batch --pinentry-mode loopback  --passphrase passPhrase the_file.enc' (Expected 0, got 0)
:: [ 13:48:08 ] :: [   PASS   ] :: File '/var/tmp/rlRun_LOG.fTSHWXqg' should contain 'sample text to encrypt'
:: [ 13:48:08 ] :: [   FAIL   ] :: File '/var/tmp/rlRun_LOG.fTSHWXqg' should contain 'OCB encrypted data'

Expected results:
Block cipher mode matches for both encryption and decryption.
