1. I'm on a Fedora system using a Radeon HD 7900 (Southern Islands) series video card with the amdgpu kernel drivers via: amdgpu.dc=0 radeon.si_support=0 amdgpu.si_support=1 radeon.cik_support=0 amdgpu.cik_support=1.

---------------------

It's worth pointing out some interesting observations:

 - I've tried running with amdgpu.dc=1. When I do this, cursors show up again in games, but I can no longer drive my 3440x1440 monitor at its native resolution.
 - When running a game full screen with amdgpu.dc=0, if I task out of the game, I can briefly see the games customized cursor for a split second before the screen redraws my desktop fully
 - I have opened a ticket about this over at the Valve Proton issue tracker. It's hard to tell if this is an issue on their end, or an issue with the kernel driver. Regardless, my hope is that both sides won't end up pointing at each other, so here's a link to the ticket: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/6284 -- I'll cross-reference from over there back to here as well.
 - I know it's an older card, but it's still got some life in it, especially at lower resolutions and I'd love to prevent it from ending up in a landfill.
 - I can see the games mouse cursor whenever I trigger the gnome volumn control OSD. When it fades away, the cursor disappears with it.
 - This extension seems to work-around the issue: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1873/disable-unredirect-fullscreen-windows/
 - This gnome mutter issue is worth a look - https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/1939

Comment 1 Ben Cotton 2023-04-25 18:09:23 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 36 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 36 on 2023-05-16.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '36'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 36 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

Comment 2 Ludek Smid 2023-05-25 17:15:57 UTC
Fedora Linux 36 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2023-05-16.

Fedora Linux 36 is no longer maintained, which means that it
will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora Linux
please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Note that the version
field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see
the version field.

If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against an
active release.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
