Description of problem: Since Krita 5.0 the gmic plugins shall be included in Krita. Krita 5.0.8 denies this and asks for the plugin. gmic is installed on the pc and standalone executeable, so it looks like a config issue. Unfortunatly since 5.0 there is no config option in the prefs anymore to solve this manually. $ rpm -qf /usr/bin/gmic gmic-2.9.9-2.fc36.x86_64 $ rpm -qf $(which krita) krita-5.0.8-3.fc36.x86_64 Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 5.0.8 F36
Krita doesn't even try to load gmic: $ strace -s 256 -f krita 2>/tmp/txt $ grep gmic /tmp/txt $
Caused By: missing gmic plugin as .so library. https://invent.kde.org/graphics/krita/-/blob/2e15682e6e0827b4cdf90b1be18db7e97370a7af/README.packagers.md "Krita 5 changes the way G’MIC-Qt is consumed. In order to support CentOS and macOS, G’MIC-Qt has been converted into a dynamically loadable library that is a dependent of Krita." But there is none in the krita or gmic packages.
Any movement here?
No movement. I'd accept any help implementing this. As implemented currently, it's a bit of a pain requiring at least 2 build passes, instead of the typical "build everything at once".
If I have time, I'll try to give upstream some constructive feedback: * either build it all at once * distribute this plugin separately (since building it separate is already a requirement)
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 36 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 36 on 2023-05-16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a 'version' of '36'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version' to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora Linux 36 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version prior to this bug being closed.
Fedora Linux 36 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2023-05-16. Fedora Linux 36 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora Linux please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Note that the version field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see the version field. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against an active release. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

(In reply to Rex Dieter from comment #5) > If I have time, I'll try to give upstream some constructive feedback: > * either build it all at once > * distribute this plugin separately (since building it separate is already a > requirement) The extra package sounds ok for me.
Is this being considered to get fixed or is it still unknown? It's been couple years since Krita ships G'MIC directly and this issue is still unresolved...
Still happens with Fedora 40.
This package has changed maintainer in Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component.
Workaround: use appimage of Krita, gmic works with it.
