Comment 2 Upstream Release Monitoring 2022-11-16 23:10:08 UTC
the-new-hotness/release-monitoring.org's scratch build of python-bitstring-4.0.1-1.fc36.src.rpm for rawhide failed http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=94253478

Comment 3 Scott K Logan 2022-11-23 01:03:57 UTC
Upstream has merged a change which will unblock the use of modern python packaging macros, and intends to release that change soon.

I'll hold off on the update for that release.

In the mean time, I'm testing the downstream packages in this COPR: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/cottsay/bitstring-chain/builds/

Comment 4 Scott K Logan 2022-11-23 01:37:17 UTC
Looks like there is a breaking change here that will break esptool. Upstream is aware of the issue and is working on a fix: https://github.com/espressif/esptool/commit/09e41df303a6a9d52828de814e1de130821f609b
