screenshot illustrating the problem

On a up to date fedora 37, running Xorg + kde.

okular-22.08.2-1.fc37.x86_64
poppler-22.08.0-2.fc37.x86_64

I have tried the new okular and wanted to check that bug 1969736 (Accents on uppercase characters (think É) do not show on the first line in pdf annotations in okular) was fixed. That bug is fixed, but I found another one which is maybe related.

In a "Inline note", the spacing between two consecutive lines is insufficient if the character on the top line goes below the line (as g) and the character on the line below is an accented capital (as È): the characters overlap. More precisely, the diacritic of the È overlaps with the bottom part of the g.

I am attaching a screenshot with two inline notes: one with the standard font size (11) and one with a size 25, where things are easier to read.

Notice by the way that bug 1969736 is indeed fixed: some spacing has been added above the first row. It seems now that spacing is in fact needed over all the other rows as well.

This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 37 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 37 on 2023-12-05.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '37'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 37 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

Comment 2 Éric Brunet 2023-11-23 09:37:28 UTC
The issue is still present in Fedora 39. I am updating the bug to the new version.

Fedora Linux 41 entered end-of-life (EOL) status on 2025-12-15.

will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
are closing this bug.
