RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Jonathan Wright 2023-01-02 20:54:23 UTC
Hi,

In 2095993 qpdf was added to crb which is great but we also need the -devel package. It is currently blocking python-pikepdf in EPEL9 which in turn blocks python-pandas which is a very important package.

Comment 2 Zdenek Dohnal 2023-01-03 14:39:20 UTC
I propose moving qpdf-devel RPM from buildroot into public CRB repository for the following reasons:

- qpdf-devel is requested by community and the RPM was in previous RHELs and CentOS, so it would be great if the RPM was available publicly as unsupported to keep the functionality in RHEL/CentOS Stream

- no new packages are introduced into public RHEL/CentOS Stream, because the RPM was in buildroot already, and none of its deps has to move with it to CRB, so there is no impact on other teams

- packages in CRB are unsupported, so there is no requirement for migration support between RHELs, no compatibility assurance and no additional tests have to implemented

- the RHEL package - cups-filters - which requires qpdf-devel does it only during build time and the package is in AppStream, so no change for it either

Petr, can you review the request and give qa_ack?

Adding pdancak into CC as well.

I've filed the necessary ticket and submitted PR https://gitlab.com/redhat/centos-stream/release-engineering/comps/-/merge_requests/298 , once the PR is merged and the ticket solved, I'll do the build.

Comment 10 Romain Geissler 2023-01-23 18:34:19 UTC
Checking right now, it seems qpdf-devel is available in CentOS Stream 9, but not yet in RHEL 9. So we still have to wait a bit that it reaches RHEL.

Comment 11 Zdenek Dohnal 2023-01-24 08:02:23 UTC
Yep, the package will reach RHEL once this bug is closed as ERRATA. For now it is in CentOS Stream.

Comment 13 errata-xmlrpc 2023-05-09 07:48:21 UTC
Since the problem described in this bug report should be
resolved in a recent advisory, it has been closed with a
resolution of ERRATA.

For information on the advisory (qpdf bug fix and enhancement update), and where to find the updated
files, follow the link below.

If the solution does not work for you, open a new bug report.
