FEDORA-2023-8ae6a54981 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 36. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-8ae6a54981

Comment 2 Fedora Update System 2023-01-06 01:13:34 UTC
FEDORA-2023-8ae6a54981 has been pushed to the Fedora 36 testing repository.
Soon you'll be able to install the update with the following command:
`sudo dnf upgrade --enablerepo=updates-testing --refresh --advisory=FEDORA-2023-8ae6a54981`
You can provide feedback for this update here: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-8ae6a54981

See also https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Updates_Testing for more information on how to test updates.

Comment 3 Ben Beasley 2023-01-09 14:32:47 UTC
To repeat my comment in Bodhi, every update for gtest should be treated as a breaking update. The .so version for gtest is the entire version number; even patch releases are potentially ABI-incompatible, and some packages do depend on it at install time rather than just as a BuildRequires.

Comment 4 Terje Røsten 2023-01-09 18:43:13 UTC
Ok, its not possible to update this package in stable releases.

At some point someone could learn Google to do proper software and release engineering, but I doubt it will happen this decade.
