Description tommy4st 2023-01-30 13:13:33 UTC
Description of problem:
Generating thumbnails with sizes > 160 pixels result in the full-size images as thumbnail. For thumbnails sizes ≤ 160 it works as expected. Nautilus is requesting a size of 256, which results in a terrible performance for the preview generation and preview display.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.0.0

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. $ raw-thumbnailer -s 256 input.raw output.png

Actual results:
The thumbnail is as big as the original image.

Expected results:
The thumbnail should have a maximal size of 256 in any direction.

Additional info:
"raw-thumbnailer.c" has a size check for 128 (line: 50), when changed to 256 it works as expected.

Comment 11 tommy4st 2023-04-29 10:29:19 UTC
The problem reemerged because the maximum thumbnail size probably increased with GNOME 44 to at least 512 as "x-large".

Comment 12 Julian Sikorski 2023-04-29 11:26:15 UTC
Well, such issues should be best solved upstream, but the project appears abandoned.

Comment 13 Julian Sikorski 2023-04-29 19:58:12 UTC
Apparently https://github.com/dbrgn/miniaturo/ is a replacement for raw-thumbnailer but it has not been packaged for fedora so far. I have retired raw-thumbnailer.
