Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Document URL:
https://docs.theforeman.org/nightly/Managing_Content/index-satellite.html#Managing_Red_Hat_Subscriptions_content-management

Section Number and Name:
3. Managing Red Hat Subscriptions

Describe the issue:
Much of this section is obsolete for anyone using SCA (Simple Content Access.)

Suggestions for improvement:
In SCA mode, things are easier:

- For future-dated subscriptions, you still must add them to your manifest (subscription allocation), but you don't need to attach them to content hosts.

- The entire section 3.6. Attaching Red Hat Subscriptions to Content Hosts, is neither required nor possible in SCA mode.

- Same for 3.7. Updating Red Hat Subscriptions on Multiple Hosts

Section 9. Managing Activation Keys also needs an update.
9.1. Creating an Activation Key - The entire blurb here (everything before "Custom Products") only applies to organizations _not_ in SCA mode. In SCA mode, it is neither required nor possible to attach a subscription to an activation key, and auto-attach isn't a thing.

9.2. Updating Subscriptions Associated with an Activation Key - This entire section only applies to organizations _not_ using SCA.

9.4. Enabling Auto-Attach - This entire section only applies to organizations _not_ using SCA.

9.6. Enabling and Disabling Repositories on Hosts - This applies to both SCA and non-SCA orgs. It may be good to note here that in SCA mode, a lack of an attached subscription will not prevent a content host from having access to custom products, because custom products are always enabled by default. So in SCA mode, you'll need to use other strategies for restricting access to content, including disabling repositories and using content views/LCEs.

Side note about 9.6. Enabling and Disabling Repositories on Hosts - These instructions apply to hosts, not activation keys. So maybe this section is in the wrong place. However, activation keys also have a Repository Sets tab and the procedure is pretty much the same, so we should add a section here for that.

The Content Management guide also needs instructions for how to enable or disable SCA for an org. (it's a checkbox on the organization's Edit page.) It should also mention that SCA defaults to on for newly created organizations.

Hello!
After agreement with Brian Angelica and Marie Hornickova, I am taking over this ticket.

PR for SCA notes and new section on enabling and disabling repositories on activation keys:
https://github.com/theforeman/foreman-documentation/pull/1999

PR for moving 'Enabling and Disabling Repositories on Hosts' to Managing Hosts:
https://github.com/theforeman/foreman-documentation/pull/2000

> 9.6. Enabling and Disabling Repositories on Hosts - This applies to both SCA and non-SCA orgs. So in SCA mode, you'll need to use other strategies for restricting access to content, including disabling repositories and using content views/LCEs.

I am afraid I do not follow. The section is about disabling repositories, but you mentioned disabling repositories as other strategy. Any action item for me here?

> The Content Management guide also needs instructions for how to enable or disable SCA for an org. (it's a checkbox on the organization's Edit page.) It should also mention that SCA defaults to on for newly created organizations.

This is currently documented in Administering Satellite: https://dxp-docp-prod.apps.ext-waf.spoke.prod.us-west-2.aws.paas.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.13/html-single/administering_red_hat_satellite/index?lb_target=preview&check_logged_in=1#Creating_an_Organization_admin
and in Simple Content Access article, which is currently undergoing changes in a stage of draft: https://access.redhat.com/node/5117171/draft (section How do I enable Simple Content Access for Red Hat Satellite)
I am not certain if the draft is accessible outside CSS (And the Image rendering is failing, will have to fix that), that's why I will also attach a screenshot.

On second thought, I think that section is fine as-is. So no action item there.

I posted comments on the two PRs. Thanks!
