In one of the meetings it was asked if the the procedure mentioned here can be automated. It is possible to do that if any of the ceph pods we run are privileged. It will have to be done in the init part of the container and may be controlled through a configmap param.

However, whether to do such a change or not is to be decided by the image builders. Question for Travis or the ceph image owners?

Travis, who is right person to decide on this change?

Have these steps been manually verified for ODF? Before we can talk about automating it, we need to confirm if it works manually.
But this BZ is on RHCS, so I'm not clear if it would work for ODF.
The Ceph pods do run privileged so the init containers are privileged, but modifying files on the host is questionable IMO.
