I logged out of a Wayland session and logged back in on an xorg session, and got a crash report. Only happened once but I haven´t tried to reproduce it. reporter: libreport-2.17.11 type: CCpp reason: gnome-shell killed by SIGSEGV journald_cursor: s=b24578faf59e443abc55554697d78f6f;i=a376;b=5179b85f3ac2464fac488e621f650230;m=144b2e4f;t=60624c693cef2;x=c1f188003c410339 executable: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cmdline: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cgroup: 0::/user.slice/user-1000.slice/user/session.slice/org.gnome.Shell rootdir: / uid: 1000 kernel: 6.4.15-200.fc38.x86_64 package: gnome-shell-44.5-1.fc38 runlevel: N 5 backtrace_rating: 4 crash_function: classify_argument comment: I logged out of a Wayland session and logged back in on an xorg session, and got a crash report. I installed some TTF fonts under "~/.local/share/fonts/ttf-win10-office2k10/", then logged out and back in to gnome-shell, and was greeted with this crash report. The fonts are taken off of the Windows 10 and Office 2010 discs that I own and they are mostly .ttf file extensions and some .ttc; no other file extensions. reporter: libreport-2.17.11 type: CCpp reason: gnome-shell killed by SIGSEGV journald_cursor: s=859a7f646b1342a68d339e31714373a4;i=4de8;b=d489fb7b0a3947e3b19941bf5141b4e4;m=a2858d71;t=6073237671d41;x=fe9ac656c8eca455 executable: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cmdline: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cgroup: 0::/user.slice/user-1000.slice/user/session.slice/org.gnome.Shell rootdir: / uid: 1000 kernel: 6.5.5-200.fc38.x86_64 package: gnome-shell-44.5-1.fc38 runlevel: N 5 backtrace_rating: 4 crash_function: classify_argument

This component is maintained by the GNOME project. Issues with it should be reported directly to GNOME at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/. This issue should only be kept open if it: 1. Relates to Fedora packaging or integration with other Fedora components 2. Is required for Fedora release processes, such as blocker bugs and freeze exceptions If this issue isn't needed for either of these two reasons, please: * create an issue with GNOME * add a link to the GNOME issue here * close this issue as CLOSED/UPSTREAM Thank you!
The original report was fixed 7 back ago: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/6535 The newer ones might be different. Let's close it and let it people report again with a fresh traceback.
Actually, the problem might be that the fix wasn't delivered to F38.
It did seem to happen after some "random" key presses on the keyboard. It may have been some key combination which triggered *something* which in turn lead to the crash of gnome-shell. reporter: libreport-2.17.11 type: CCpp reason: gnome-shell killed by SIGSEGV journald_cursor: s=37959b5a32324661bd349a853b2ab687;i=b4eb7;b=3ef6333cb00d447da6f711fe909c4a22;m=39121343;t=60fc7d2fa26b7;x=7fe272054fe3a035 executable: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cmdline: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cgroup: 0::/user.slice/user-1000.slice/user/session.slice/org.gnome.Shell rootdir: / uid: 1000 kernel: 6.6.12-100.fc38.x86_64 package: gnome-shell-44.8-1.fc38 runlevel: N 5 backtrace_rating: 4 crash_function: classify_argument comment: It did seem to happen after some "random" key presses on the keyboard.
