Comment 2 Maxwell G 2023-02-27 23:01:41 UTC
This bug is invalid and the package maintainer of pypy does not need
to take any action. The python-cryptography package has already been patched
and no rebuilds of dependent packages are required. Python is a dynamic
language.

See https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/?search=&packages=python-cryptography&releases=F37&releases=F36&releases=F39&releases=F38&type=security.

Comment 3 Miro Hrončok 2023-02-28 10:24:07 UTC
Beware!

$ repoquery -q --repo=rawhide --provides pypy-libs | grep cryptography
bundled(python2dist(cryptography)) = 2.7

CVE-2023-23931: "This issue has been present since `update_into` was originally introduced in cryptography 1.8."

Comment 4 Charalampos Stratakis 2023-03-07 02:56:22 UTC
cryptography was actually debundled from pypy a year ago: https://foss.heptapod.net/pypy/pypy/-/commit/f972857fba55cb13705dd9d62eae11f8bd420cd9

The virtual provides will need to be removed.

Comment 6 Miro Hrončok 2023-03-07 09:27:01 UTC
Nevertheless, update_into is not bundled here, so this is indeed NOTABUG.
