Created attachment 1952136 [details] screencast Description of problem: At the login secreen the options only show theirselves when clicking (and holding) at the virtual-keyboard button or other butons like sessions or keyboard layout. Look at the screencast attached to see this. How reproducible: always splited from https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2179998
Proposed as a Blocker and Freeze Exception for 38-final by Fedora user geraldosimiao using the blocker tracking app because: Beaks user experience
On my tests, the "sleep, restart, shut down, other" buttons disappear when the virtual keyboard is enabled. Notice that doesn't mean **visible**. It just means it's available (it shows a green ball on the Virtual Keyboard icon)
Just to record, as Alessandro noted on the ohter ticket: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2179998#c4
I reported this problem for sddm on Wayland in F36 at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2058468 The update sddm-0.19.0^git20220228.c257a40-3.fc36 for that didn't fix the problem and it has continued ever since.
right, I knew this sounded familiar, but couldn't find that report in my archive...
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/merge_requests/3844 < this should address this problem. The change can be applied on top of 5.27.
Discussed at 2023-03-20 blocker review meeting: https://meetbot-raw.fedoraproject.org/fedora-blocker-review/2023-03-20/f38-blocker-review.2023-03-20-16.00.html . This is accepted as a blocker as a violation of "Shutting down, rebooting, logging in and logging out must work using standard console commands and the mechanisms offered (if any) by all release-blocking desktops": these entries in sddm are meant to be "offered" as part of KDE (a release-blocking desktop), but this bug renders it more or less impossible to use them.
FEDORA-2023-4857d9df23 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 38. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-4857d9df23
This is actually in kwin. :)
(In reply to Fedora Update System from comment #8) > FEDORA-2023-4857d9df23 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 38. > https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2023-4857d9df23 Great, this update really fixed this for me on the same VM I used to create the screencast.
FEDORA-2023-4857d9df23 has been pushed to the Fedora 38 stable repository. If problem still persists, please make note of it in this bug report.
