Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Peter Ondrejka 2023-04-12 11:16:20 UTC
Description of problem:

hammer host traces list does not show traces for hosts other than rhel7 -- same for UI and API

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
6.13, but happens on 6.12 as well

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. have a tracer setup on a host (rhel8 or 9), downgrade a package so that it requires service restart -- I used robottelo-mock-service from qe automation

Actual results:
on host:
# tracer
You should restart:
  * Some applications using:
      systemctl restart robottelo-mock-service

on satellite:
# hammer host list
(redacted)
ID | .. TRACE STATUS
---|----------------------
9  | .. No processes require restarting

# hammer host traces list --host-id 9
---------|-------------|--------|-----
TRACE ID | APPLICATION | HELPER | TYPE
---------|-------------|--------|-----

Expected results:
The trace should appear on satellite

Additional info:

Found by QE automation

Comment 1 Adam Ruzicka 2023-04-12 12:25:14 UTC
This sounds like it is fairly specific to tracer

Comment 2 Ian Ballou 2023-04-20 16:45:59 UTC
Looks like the issue isn't in tracer or katello-host-tools-tracer itself, but its connection to dnf:

The following works fine:

[root@rhel8 katello-host-tools]# python3
Python 3.6.8 (default, Jun 14 2022, 12:54:58)
[GCC 8.5.0 20210514 (Red Hat 8.5.0-10)] on linux
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import optparse
>>> from katello.constants import (DISABLE_ENABLE_REPOS_VAR, DISABLE_PACKAGE_PROFILE_VAR,
...         ENABLED_REPOS_PLUGIN_CONF, PACKAGE_PROFILE_PLUGIN_CONF, REPOSITORY_PATH, YUM, ZYPPER,
...         ZYPPER_REPOSITORY_PATH)
>>> from katello.enabled_report import EnabledReport
>>> from katello.packages import purge_package_cache, upload_package_profile
>>> from katello.repos import EnabledRepoCache, upload_enabled_repos_report
>>> from katello.utils import combined_profiles_enabled
>>>
>>>
>>> from katello import tracer
>>> tracer.upload_tracer_profile(tracer.query_affected_apps, None)

However, this fails:

[root@rhel8 ~]# dnf katello-tracer-upload
Updating Subscription Management repositories.
No such command: katello-tracer-upload. Please use /bin/dnf --help
It could be a DNF plugin command, try: "dnf install 'dnf-command(katello-tracer-upload)'"

That is taken straight from the binary /sbin/katello-tracer-upload
