Description Jens H. G. 2006-12-07 09:32:34 UTC
Description of problem:
1)
tixwish not part of the package. Needed by programs, which use tix.
I managed to bypass this bug adding these two lines to the programs
      package require Tix
      tix configure -fontset WmDefault
Just the first line did not work, because then bold_font was not set in [tix
options get bold_font]
2)
demos do not work in "wish /usr/share/Tix8.4/demos/widgets"
      ->ScrolledHList(2)
Again the "bold_font"-bug

this problem is the same in fedora 6...

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
8.4

How reproducible:
1) whereis tixwish
2) start widget-demo and choose ScrolledHList(2)

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:

Expected results:
bold_font should be set by default

Thanks for your report.

While the documentation is not very easy to find, both seem to be intentional
changes:

* TixIntro(n) describes tixwish as deprecated, and it was removed in 8.4.0.

* /usr/share/doc/tix-doc-*/Release-8.4.0.txt mentions
  "Separation of Tix package require and Tix style usage".
  tix(n) describes the "tix initstyle" command:
       tix initstyle
              Init the style defaults for Tix. Prior to Tix 8.4 this was done
              by simply package requiring Tix, but this call is now required
              to explicitly use Tix style.

This leaves the incorrect demos/widget, which was not updated. I have filed
a patch upstream, so it will hopefully be fixed in the next Tix release.
