Thanks for a bug report. I guess when you make the preview panel wider/smaller, it'll recalculate the size and will show the content. It can be a change on the WebKitGTK side, the 2.40.0 did change few things, but it was able to allocated enough space for the content, at least in a sense of not keeping it in its minimum. What is your WebKitGTK version, please? In any case, this is related to this upstream bug: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/2310
Only now did I realize that the preview panel exists but it's minimized! I can't however find a handle how to un-minimize it, no matter how I resize the window. The description is always minimized while the attachment box (where the invite.ics is listed) is maximized. And using webkit2gtk3-2.40.0-1.fc36.x86_64
Aha, Fedora 36, I overlooked that detail. The WebKitGTK 2.40.0 disables frame flattening, which breaks Evolution. The Evolution 3.44.x in Fedora has a related fix, but it does not have the one for [1]. I can include it. [1] https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/2204
I made a scratch build [2] with a proposed fix. Could you give it a try, please? I upgraded my Fedora 36 machine to Fedora 38 this morning (what an unfortunate coincidence), thus I cannot test it myself. [2] https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=100126050
Works like a charm! Thanks for the quick turn-around!

This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 36 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 36 on 2023-05-16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a 'version' of '36'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version' to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora Linux 36 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version prior to this bug being closed.
