Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

dfsgetinfo reports WERR_NERR_DFSNOSUCHSERVER in Permissive mode and
NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_DISCONNECTED in Enforcing mode.

0) created dir on Windows (win-share-coredump-with)
1) Join the Ad domain and start smb & winbind
2) ln -s msdfs:AD-SAMBA-R87\win-share-coredump-with pointA
3) smbclient //localhost/samba-share/pointA -U Administrator%Secret123 -c showconnect'

4) rpcclient localhost -U% -c 'dfsgetinfo \\localhost\samba-share\pointA localhost pointA''do_cmd: Could not initialise netdfs. Error was NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_DISCONNECTED

6) rpcclient localhost -U% -c 'dfsgetinfo \\localhost\samba-share\pointA localhost pointA''
result was WERR_NERR_DFSNOSUCHSERVER

Originally found on samba-4.16, now I reproduce it on samba-4.18. Test works fine with samba-4.17

The reason is in a new samba code in samba-4.18. rpcclient dfsgetinfo no longer supports double backslash in path:


rpcclient localhost -U% -c 'dfsgetinfo \\localhost\samba-share\pointA localhost pointA''

and works only with a single backslash.

rpcclient localhost -U% -c 'dfsgetinfo \localhost\samba-share\pointA localhost pointA''

Mail to upstream was sent to samba-technical list to clarify the change.

The fix is part of samba-4.18.6 which will be released in the middle of August. Rhel 8.9/9.3 will be then rebased to it.
